The BLC Council highlights: meeting on Sunday August 20
- Introduction: Acknowledge that this proves to be OUR church- not PB or the council or anyone else Bethlehem is our church. This is evidenced by your caring participation in our groups, classes and more recently the generous in kind giving to fund the roof repair. We are a very fortunate assembly/ family and the current Council recognizes this and appreciates all of you.
- Parking Lot: We continue to work with Ishikawa Elementary School next door to find a safe way for parents to continue to use our parking lot to help ease traffic on 32nd Street during school drop off and pick up times.
- The council moved and approved Bekkah Weinberger transitioning into the position of part time Youth Ministry Leader while keeping about 50% of her current administrative duties. There are a number of reasons for this addition to our church mission. One being we have more children in this congregation that we want to enrich and serve along with their families and friends, another reason for choosing Bekkah for this split job description is her seminary training and years of experience leading youth ministry in previous congregations so it’s a perfect fit for her gifts and skills. You may notice some changes in the office area to accommodate her new position and facilitating the use of some unused classrooms in our education wing. Stay tuned for more information as this process gets going. Since she will not be performing the simple administrative front desk duties, she is reaching out to identify volunteers who will assist with office tasks such as: answering phone calls, sorting mail, greeting visitors, preparing Sunday bulletins and preparing Proclaim. Bekkah has suggested that she would need at least four volunteers with each taking one day of the week that the office is open-from 9am to 1 pm. Note: the pay will remain the same. Please contact Bekkah if you have any questions or would be willing to volunteer one morning or serve as a substitute desk person for the office-Men or Women welcome to volunteer!
