All Guests Are Special, but . . .?
From the Welcoming Committee
Are you excited? I know I can’t contain my excitement. This Sunday we will have special guests at Bethlehem. Name tags… everywhere we look we see glowing, happy faces and Bethlehem name tags are visible everywhere we look. Good job, my fellow servants
in Christ!
Got Mail? This week congregants should expect a special letter. Won’t that be refreshing instead of the bills, junk mail, etc.? You should receive a letter from Bethlehem Lutheran Church this week. The letter is being mailed around June 16. There are two dates that are extremely important. This Sunday, June 20, a “Meet and Greet” has been planned with a mystery guest and his family. Do you remember when we last enjoyed fellowship with each other? It has been over a year. We will have beverages as well as cookies. Yum! Yum! Everyone can enjoy a few minutes of conversation with our special guests.
The second important date is June 27. Following the 9 a.m. service, the Call Committee and the Congregation Council will recommend the name of “?” to be our called pastor. Background information and the rationale for why he was chosen will be provided. There will also be a discussion of our Ministry Site Profile which describes Bethlehem’s vision, values and priorities.
It is very important for all of our members to be at the June 27 th meeting. All of you are urged to attend. There are two important resolutions for the members to vote on. The first resolution will be to call the candidate. If that passes, the second resolution will be to approve the compensation package. If both resolutions pass, our President of the congregation (Rich Johnson) or the Call Committee Chairman (Jim Thompson) will call him and report the vote.
How can you help? We know there are many talented members that haven’t come forward and offered their information to add to the Where-to-Go and Who-to-See Directory so this is our request that you do so soon. Things are moving fast and we want to be ready. Also, please share your gems of information on great services, shopping locations, repair and maintenance, etc. We want to recommend the best of Mesa and Arizona. Thank you everyone!
Do you want to help for the Meet and Greet? All of us are aware of the soaring
temperatures this week and the excessive heat warning. If you don’t mind firing up those ovens this week, there is nothing better than fresh, warm cookies out of the oven. If you like to bake, please feel free to bring some of your delicious cookies. If baking is not your “cup of tea” this time of year which is understandable, please feel free to bring your store bought cookies. All are welcome. We would appreciate it if you could deliver your
irresistible cookies on Saturday, June 19, between 9 a.m.-12 p.m. We will accept cookies before worship on Sunday as well to accommodate you if Saturday delivery is not possible. We appreciate all who participate and share. Proverbs 11:25: “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
We are a home to share God’s love and grace.
