LAMA joins with the most vulnerable of our society to voice our common needs in the public square, activating our faith in love.

Last time, you received a tickler about the upcoming Lenten Challenge. Here’s another.

This year’s challenge will benefit the Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission at Rock Point, AZ – “An outpost of love and hope”.

  • House of Prayer (HOP) is the congregation located on the Navajo Lutheran Mission campus, serving the Rock Point community as a center for spiritual learning and cultural dialog. Established in 1965 within the American Lutheran Church, HOP is now a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and an active cross-cultural ministry of the Grand Canyon Synod.
  • Roughly 2,000 Navajos live in Rock Point
  • 60% of houses have internet
  • It is roughly 50 miles to the nearest grocery store
  • Less than 40% of the homes in Rock Point do not have running water.

Your support can help with the purchase of a water redistribution system that will transport well water to tanks where residents can fill containers to ensure they have potable water.

Till next time,

Sharon Odden, LAMA Roundtable Representative
