LAMA joins with the most vulnerable of our society to voice our common needs in the public square, activating our faith in love.

Last time, you received a tickler about the upcoming Lenten Challenge. Here’s another.

Pastor Brian, Marsha and I were among the nearly 180 individuals to participate in Lutheran Day at the capital. It was truly a stimulating and educational experience.

Pastor Brian served as our chill and hospitable Master of Ceremonies. We listened to several inspirational speakers. And then we gathered for a group picture before heading to our scheduled appointments with legislators.

Several of us met with Senator Farnsworth to encourage him to support the three bills LAMA is supporting: HB2213, (free school lunches for those qualified), HB2191 (Yes in

God’s Back Yard aka YIGBY, which eases zoning restrictions for houses of worship that would allow them to construct low-and middle-income housing on their properties) and HB2097 (restore voting rights to first-time felons who complete prison term or probation.)

Coming up next week: More on the Lenten Challenge!

Till next time,

Sharon Odden, LAMA Roundtable Representative
