In late September, Hurricane Helene hit the coast of Florida as a Category 4 hurricane, ravaging communities in the southeast, from Florida to Virginia. As the floodwaters have started to recede, the extreme devastation – especially in North Carolina and Tennessee – has become clearer. Entire towns, roads and bridges have been washed away, and millions are without power and cell service.

Today, less than three weeks later, Hurricane Milton is once again battering Florida as a major hurricane moving across the peninsula.

Whatever unfolds because of these storms, Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR) will be there. LDR has strong relationships in the region and is already at work on the ground. Working alongside synods and other partners, LDR is prepared to provide support throughout the impacted region.

Gifts to LDR’s “Hurricane Response” will be used in full (100%) to assist those affected by hurricanes, until the response is complete.

Bethlehem is partnering with Thrivent Financial to donate to the hurricane relief efforts of Lutheran Disaster Response because our giving becomes more. When a donation is made to LDR through Thrivent’s online disaster response campaign, Thrivent will provide a $1 match for every $2 donated (maximum match of $500,000).

Ways to Give:

1.Complete the bottom half of the insert in your Sunday worship bulletin and place it, along with your check made out to Bethlehem in the offering plate. Please write “LDR – Hurricane Response” in the memo line. We will pass these gifts on to LDR through Thrivent’s campaign at the end of October.

2. Make a donation online through Thrivent’s campaign here. Thrivent covers all processing fees so 100% of your donation will go directly to Lutheran Disaster Response.

3. If you prefer to make a donation directly to Lutheran Disaster Response, you can do so here.
