This week I thought I would give each of you a run through of what Holy Week is going to look like.
Palm Sunday – We are going to have a special worship service called ‘The Cry of the Whole Congregation’. It is a fully interactive and engaging service about the final week of Jesus’ life. There will be 4 readers that will lead different voices of Holy Week and everyone worshipping with us will also be a voice during the service. It is a powerful worship experience, and we hope that you can be a part of it. We will gather outside the worship space and process in with palm during the opening hymn. For those worshipping at home, we are not able to pre-record it so please look out for this service to be available Sunday afternoon/evening and not the usual Saturday evening. Service is at 9am.
Maundy Thursday – We are calling this service the ‘Upper Room’. In the gospels Jesus invites the disciples to come and celebrate the Passover in an upper room with him. This is exactly what we are going to do. We are inviting you to come and experience the upper room. During this service we will experience, through stations, a hand washing, anointing of oil, prayer, and communion. It will be a moving service that will conclude with the stripping of the altar. A reminder of what Jesus experienced in his final hours. Three of our youth who have attended our Fed and Forgiven Communion Class will be receiving their Faith Milestones this evening. Service is at 6pm.
Good Friday – We will enjoy a Cantata, ‘The Passion of our Lord: According to John’ by our own choir and conclude with the 7 Last Words of Christ. After each of the last words of Christ is spoken, a candle will be extinguished, and the room will grow darker. Come here the final words of Jesus from the cross. Service is at 6pm.
Easter – We are excited to have both a sunrise and a regular celebration worship for Easter. Join us at 6am for our sunrise service in the courtyard. It will be slightly shorter than a typical worship service. Then stick around because from 7am-8:30amam there is going to be a wonderful Easter Brunch. If you want to help or bring a dish, please contact Carol Savoie or the church office. There is also going to be an Easter egg hunt for our kids starting at 8:15am. Then at 9am we will have our Easter Celebration service. Come and celebrate this most holy of days as we remember who has the final word when it comes to sin and death.
Holy Week is such a special time of the year. We hope that you can take advantage of all these different ways that bring us closer in relationship to God and one another. We also ask that you bring someone to a service as each one can truly speak to the hearts of those who come. We are a home to shareGod’s love and grace.
Blessings,
Pastor Brian
