This last Sunday the disciples were posed with the question by Jesus, “Who do you say that I am?”  In worship I also posed that question to each of you, and I was thrilled to see so many of you respond to it.  You responded by placing your answers on a whiteboard that we put out in worship.
You can see the answers on the image above and I love seeing descriptions of Jesus that range from Savior to Friend.  One person even put a “?” and told me that Jesus is so much more than we’ll ever comprehend so that person has always thought a question mark is the best answer to that question.  I LOVE IT!  In fact, I love all the answers and truly am thrilled each of you took time to write your answer down.
I see that we even received some artwork from our younger members of the congregation.  While I cannot interpret what that art means, I am so tickled that they wanted to be a part of the whiteboard project even if they didn’t fully understand.  That, to me is an important part of being a body of Christ.  Including all members of all ages in the life of the church.  Being included is more important to the communal body than fully understanding.
After all, do any of us fully understand who Jesus is?  We spend our whole lives seeking that answer and following his ways to better understand, but I’m not sure we ever get a full answer.  Which is why it is so wonderful to have so many different words to help us describe who Jesus is to us and for us at different stages of our lives.
I hope that we can open ourselves up to those questions and so many more and to find ways to continue to involve all ages of our congregation in all aspects of our faith journey together.
I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who put together the God’s Work Our Hands bags.  It was wonderful to walk into church today and see two giant tubs full of bags put together.  Great job everyone!
Blessings,
Pastor Brian
