It is without any intention at all, but it appears I will continue down the path of sharing stories of nature with you.  First, we talked about animals, then it was clouds, and today it’s rainbows.

Last Tuesday there was an intense downpour in part of the East Valley.  I was at gymnastics with Madi and Bekkah had taken Aubreigh to dance.  I wasn’t looking outside because I was in the middle of the building facing the gym, but Bekkah asked if it was raining where I was.  I turned around and looked outside as best I could, and I didn’t see any rain.  A few minutes later she took a picture from the church parking lot to show me what she meant, and it included a cool surprise.

There in all its glory was a rainbow arching its way over Noah’s Ark Preschool and Kindergarten.  Not only was it amazing to think about a rainbow appearing above Noah’s Ark, but if you recall, it was just 3 days earlier when we gathered in worship and heard the story of Noah’s ark and the rainbow.  We had just immersed ourselves in that covenant and now we saw it happen just a few days later!

12 God said, “This is the symbol of the covenant that I am drawing up between me and you and every living thing with you, on behalf of every future generation. 13 I have placed my bow in the clouds; it will be the symbol of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember the covenant between me and you and every living being among all the creatures. Floodwaters will never again destroy all creatures. 16 The bow will be in the clouds, and upon seeing it I will remember the enduring covenant between God and every living being of all the earth’s creatures.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the symbol of the covenant that I have set up between me and all creatures on earth.”

Genesis 9:12-17 (CEB)

When Madi and I walked out of gym I told her about the rainbow and even though we couldn’t see it from where we were, I told her I would do my best to get her to see it.  We then headed off to pick up Chipotle to bring home for dinner. It was quick and easy, and it was a fundraiser to benefit Las Sendas Elementary.  The whole way to Chipotle I tried to get Madi to see the rainbow once I saw it, but it wasn’t at a good angle.  Instead, I continually reassured her that I could see it and that we were in fact getting closer to Chipotle where we should be able to see it before it disappeared.

As you can probably guess and see, we did in fact get to see the rainbow.  I was excited it was still there for Madi to see..and Madi was ecstatic too.  It was good timing though, because by the time we got back out to the car (it was a quick pick up) the rainbow was completely gone.

Rainbows are always a special sight to see, especially for people of faith, but this one had extra meaning for our family as we recalled God’s covenant through the Bible on Sunday, and then saw the promise with our own eyes just a few short days later.  It is my prayer that you both know and experience God’s blessings, promises and covenant for you each and every day of your life.

Blessings,

Pastor Brian
